![]() My experience with Stanleys hasn't been good. Half on the front edge and half on the wall just above the cabinet. Install your cabinets so the red laser line shows on the top front edge of the cabinet along with showing right above cabinet along the back wall.Basically you are splitting the laser line in two. I found that the easiest way is to set it on a camera tripod and adjust the level line 34 1/2" above your highest spot on your floor. I set cabinets in a "U" shaped formation in my 12'x12' kitchen with this level, with only 1/16" error: The other good thing about this level is how the top corner is cut at an angle where the laser transmits, throwing a line at the ceiling also. I use this Dewalt Self Leveling Laser Level a lot to set cabinets, you can set it on a tripod, fasten it to a wall, or use the bracket with magnets and stick it to a metal stud. ![]() I use the Dewalt Laser Plumb Bob which is also a square: ![]() KG's Robo Vector would give you additional vectors for $224. If I was looking for a Plumb only Laser now, I would probably go with the $100 Stanley. This is a lot easier than from a ladder trying to move a string Plumb Bob around to where the Plumb Bob intersects a target on the floor. Usually the whole point of using a laser is to find a the point on the ceiling that corresponds to reference point on the floor. I've never used this method as it seems a little hokey. The Plumb Bob also comes with a string so that it can be used off the stand to project the beam downwards to the floor. When the stand is moved to a new location on the floor, the laser quickly settles into a stable target to mark the ceiling location. The brass holder for the Plumb Bob has oscillation damping magnets in the black ring at the top of the mounting stand. I use iit on the floor to project a vertical beam up to the ceiling to spot locations for remodel ceiling fixtures. It is made from polished brass and looks as if it should be in a display case. I have a 1st gen Cst/Berger Plumb Bob that is almost too pretty to use.
